FAQ
01
Do you accept large furniture?
We accept select bedroom furniture that would directly impact children in foster care such as twin beds, bunkbeds, cribs, and mattresses (sometimes dressers if not too big). We are limited on our storage space. We do not accept sofas, love seats, recliners, coffee tables, tables and chairs...
03
How do I donate?
You can donate during our open hours, or schedule an appointment for your convenience. For monetary donations you can mail a check to us made payable to My Kid's Closet or drop it off during open hours or donate online through our donate page.
02
I'm. a newly licensed foster parent, but do not have placement yet. Can I go ahead and get a carseat and crib or other items to prep our home?
No, we distribute items as children come into care or have an immediate need. Once you have your placement on the way or in the home, we are happy to help you with the items needed for that specific child(ren). We would also love to pack a welcome bag for the child(ren) with some new clothes, socks, underwear, hygiene items, and comfort items.
04
I'm not in Johnson County, can I still get help with items for my foster children?
Yes, if you are willing to drive to our store, you can shop for free. All you need is your placement letter so we can approve you.
05
What size clothes and shoes do you have in your resource closet?
We have preemie up to children's 14/16 and shoes in all sizes.
